A Rose Is A Rose Birthday Card

Hi all,

Well can you believe it's half way till the weekend :) Today I have been making a card for a wonderful 94 year old, and I think it's safe to say that she doesn't surf the net, so I think I can post the card here :)

I was inspired by this card and knew I had to have a go and get out my "A Rose Is A Rose" stamp set that I adore and haven't used for a while. I rarely use my Designer Series Papers (too nice to cut into), lol, but I decided to today. As this card is A5 in size, I decided that there was too much white space, so I have used the Poppin' Pastels technique (stamping the large rose in Versamark Stamp Pad, then using a Sponge Dauber to lightly dab Barely Banana chalk over the wet image for a subtle background. The sentiment is from a stamp set called "Whimsical Words" from the recent Sale-A-Bration promotion that ended in February.

A Rose Is A Rose

Stamps: A Rose Is A Rose, Whimsical Words (sentiment).

My Sweet Pea Thank You Card

Hi all,

Really enjoying playing with my new stamp set, "My Sweet Pea" from the Mini Catalogue and have decided to use more colours out of my comfort zone to create a bright colourful card! lol. Isn't it typical, once you know you're not going to be able to buy certain colours again, you start to use them more? After 31 September, most of the colours I've used on this card will be retired, with the exception of Tempting Turquoise :)

Here's the card using My Sweet Pea

Stamps: My Sweet Pea, Oval All (sentiment).
Cardstock:
Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Pink Passion, Only Orange, Pixie Pink and Whisper White.
Inkpad:
Green Galore, Pink Passion, Only Orange. Versamark Stamp Pad.

Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper

How gorgeous is this paper? Below is a sheet from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, and it's been agony cutting into this! lol. I've heard people that stroke paper and never use it, but I've never been one of those people. Well, until now that is! lol.

The project I'm planning to make today requires two sheets of DSP, so it's really painful for me to use up both of these gorgeous sheets from the paper stack. Anyway, hope it's all worth it, I'll be back later to show off the finished project... if it goes well :)

Until then,

Bye for now,

Alex

My Sweet Pea Card

Hi all,

Hope you're having a good weekend so far and have been enjoying the lovely warm weather we've been having recently :)

Yesterday I decided to play with my new stamp set from the UK Mini called "My Sweet Pea" which is on P.12. At first I overlooked this one from the Mini Catalogue, but after seeing it at the Reading Training Day when our customers played with it in the evening to make three projects, I realised I just had to get it as it fits so nicely with the co-ordinating Sweet Stitches wheel, Designer Series Papers and Stitched Felt embellishments :)

So, after buying the stamp set and Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper stack - which is really gorgeous by the way, I decided to case one of the sheets of double sided paper (see below) to recreate into a greeting card.

Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack

My Sweet Pea Card

I have to say, these are not my normal colours that I would reach for! I've not christened Taken With Teal cardstock or ink pad till yesterday and I've had both for well over year! lol. This has really been fun to try out new colours :)

To replicate the Designer Series Paper, I decided to keep with the same colours for the card above. I stamped the Pumpkin Pie and Pink Passion stamps onto Whisper White cardstock, cut out with my paper snips and added dimensionals for a raised look. The middle flower is stamped straight onto the Whisper White cardstock in Taken With Teal ink, then stamped and punched Old Olive cardstock and centred in the middle of the flower with another dimensional.

I have used Just Perfect Alphabet stamp set for the "hi" sentiment in the right hand corner and have layered them with oval punches.

Stamps: My Sweet Pea, Just Perfect Alphabet (sentiment).
Cardstock:
Taken With Teal, Old Olive and Whisper White.
Inkpad:
Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red.
Accessories: Stampin' Writer Marker - Taken With Teal and Old Olive, 3/4" Circle Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, SU Bone Folder, Paper Snips and 3D dimensionals.

Enjoy the rest of the sunshine...

Simply Said - Hi There

At last it's Friday :) Thought I'd share another card with you that I made with Simply Said, a stamp set that was used for my first workshop, so it has a special place in my heart. I've paper pieced the little flowers below, stamped onto Designer Series Paper, cut out and secured onto Whisper White cardstock with Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive (wet glue). The sentiment is from Basic Phrases, which is a great set of 24 little stamps. This card is a "Hi There" card, something I never have to hand :) However, you could quite easily change the sentiment to more or less anything!

Simply Said With Basic Phrases

Stamps: Simply Said and Basic Phrases (sentiment).
Cardstock:
Regal Rose and Whisper White. Designer Series Paper - Tea Party.
Inkpad:
Basic Black. Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen - White.

Exciting News: Colour Renovation...

Hi there,

Well I can hardly contain myself! Stampin' Up! are bringing a new world of colour in

Stampin’ Up!’s Colour Renovation.

For more than two years, they have done extensive research including investigating colour trends in the fashion, home décor and crafting industries and have conducted focus groups involving demonstrators, customers and Stampin’ Up! experts. So, using all this valuable research, Stampin' Up! have announced that they are updating our colours so that you have a fresh, on-trend colour palette to work with!

The new colour palette is organised into four collections: Subtles, Brights, Regals and Neutrals. You will see 25 of our current colours remaining and fifteen new colours will be added to the core colour lines.

Check Out the New Colour Collection

I'm so excited about these colours, there's lots of firm favourites, new additions including In Colours! Something us in the UK haven't had in our past three Idea Book & Catalogues :) So, this is certainly a new step in the right direction of all the Stampin' Up! colours being introduced in all the countries :) No more looking on other people's blogs wishing we had Rich Razzleberry, or Baja Breeze for example! Each year, we'll get 5 additonal "In Colours" to add to our core collection for two years, yes, two years which is a new thing, even for the other countries :)

So, these "collections" as they will now be called will comprise of 10 colours per collection instead of the original 12 in each "family". For a quick list, the colours new are:

Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Riding Hood Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi. Phew!

Now, with the addition of some lovely new colours, there will be some that will no longer be available come October 2010 in our new Idea Book & Catalogue. Below is the list of colours that will be retiring

Fond Farewell

The list of colours that you'll see in the picture above are:

Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Pale Plum, Orchid Opulence, Lovely Lilac, Lavender Lace, Almost Amethyst, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue, Ballet Blue, Brilliant Blue, Taken With Teal, Glorious Green, Handsome Hunter, Sage Shadow, Mellow Moss, Green Galore, Gable Green, Barely Banana, Yoyo Yellow, Summer Sun, Apricot Appeal, Only Orange, Really Rust, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel, Close To Cocoa and Going Gray.

I know there's a few colours above that I will definitely miss :( What will I do without my blues, and what about my newly favourite colour combo of Cameo Coral/Mellow Moss!

So you have until the end of September in case you need to stock up on any favourite co-ordinating products in the colours that will be retiring. With the release of the new Idea Book & Catalogue on 1 October, the new Colour Renovation will take place, how exciting is that, new colours and In Colours!

Anyway, for now I shall be off, remember this is 6 months away, so in the meantime, we have all the current 48 colours from the Idea Book & Catalogue plus the newly released Mini Catalogue to get excited about!

As soon as I know anymore information, I'll keep you posted.

Bye for now,

Alex
