A Rose Is A Rose Birthday Card

Hi all,

Well can you believe it's half way till the weekend :) Today I have been making a card for a wonderful 94 year old, and I think it's safe to say that she doesn't surf the net, so I think I can post the card here :)

I was inspired by this card and knew I had to have a go and get out my "A Rose Is A Rose" stamp set that I adore and haven't used for a while. I rarely use my Designer Series Papers (too nice to cut into), lol, but I decided to today. As this card is A5 in size, I decided that there was too much white space, so I have used the Poppin' Pastels technique (stamping the large rose in Versamark Stamp Pad, then using a Sponge Dauber to lightly dab Barely Banana chalk over the wet image for a subtle background. The sentiment is from a stamp set called "Whimsical Words" from the recent Sale-A-Bration promotion that ended in February.

Sale-A-Bration!

Hi all,

Well, what a miserable day it is today - hasn't stopped raining all day!

Have found the time to christen my Sale-A-Bration stamp sets and decided to make a birthday card - you can never have enough, right? I tried to be good and use different Stampin' Up! products/colour combos that I haven''t used before, so in my attempt, I can say that the Always Artichoke cardstock was a first for me, along with the So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon. This is the second time I've used the Poppin' Pastels technique that's featured in the "Stampin' Techniques" booklet on P.10 (a handy booklet that you receive when you place an order with Stampin' Up!) Love how this creates a soft and subtle effect :)

Here's the card:

Stamps: Sale-A-Bration: Happy Moments and Vintage Labels (sentiment).
Cardstock:
Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Regal Rose and Whisper White.
Ink Pad: Basic Grey and Regal Rose. Versamarker Pen.
Accessories:
Stampin' Pastels - Pretty In Pink and Old Olive, Sponge Daubers, Eyelet Border Punch, 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon - So Saffron, 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon - Whisper White and Stampin' Write Marker - Pretty in Pink, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, 3D dimensionals and Bone Folder.

Card Size: A6.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend everyone.
